How to Set Up Microsoft Authenticator
It is recommended to have your mobile device and a computer with a web browser open side-by-side to finish this setup.
- Install the Microsoft Authenticator app on your mobile device (Google Play or App Store), both phones and tablets are supported.
- Open up https://mysignins.microsoft.com/security-info in a web browser (preferably on another device) and login with your Connections email address and password. (Browser)
- Look for Microsoft Authenticator in your list of sign-in options (as seen below).
- If Microsoft Authenticator IS in your list please proceed to step A.
- If Microsoft Authenticator IS NOT in your list please proceed to step B.
- If Microsoft Authenticator IS in your list of sign-in options:
a. Click “Change” and select App based authentication – notification as seen below. You are all set!


- If Microsoft Authenticator IS NOT in your list of sign-in options.
- Click Add sign-in method and select Microsoft Authenticator from the drop-down menu. (Browser)


b. Switch to the Microsoft Authenticator App on your mobile device and select Scan QR Code. If this option is not available, select Add Account and then choose Work or School (you may be prompted to allow the app to send notifications and access your camera). Align your camera with the QR Code in your browser.
c. Press Can't scan image? if you run into problems, copy the Code and URL displayed in the browser manually and paste it into the respective fields in the Authenticator App.
d. Press Next in your browser, Microsoft will now test if your configuration was successful.
e. Click Approve when receiving the sign-in prompt in the Authenticator App. (Mobile device)
f. Change your Default sign-in method listed above to App based authentication - notification.


You are all set! When you log into your Connections account the next time, you can select the Authenticator App from your sign-in methods and approve the request from your mobile device.
